How Clean is the Water you Drink?

We are made up of approximately 70% water & it is essential for every bodily function. At 1% dehydration we begin to feel thirsty. At 2% dehydration we are unable to function at our optimum level. At around 4% dehydration our ability to think clearly and cope with stress begins to diminish. Many studies show that a significant percentage of people in our society are mildly dehydrated. How much water do you drink a day? We are told that we need to drink up to 2 litres of water a day, and that does not include coffee, tea & other drinks, these all contribute to dehydration.
Our water sources are also under a great deal of stress, as we battle with droughts & an ever-growing population. Demand for quality drinking water has never been greater. Melbourne tap water is safe to drink, however contaminants including heavy metals, chemicals such as chlorine, bacteria, organic & in-organic compounds all can be present in our drinking water.
There are many water filtration systems out there and I began my research. The basic water filtration jugs (such as Brita) are inexpensive to begin with, but do start to cost more over the long run with constant changing of filters every 4-6 weeks (and I have had a few jugs over the years), they are also very limited on what they filtrate. Even looking at some larger water filters, again the cost of replacement parts in the long run is expensive. I wanted something that would keep up with the demand of 2 adults and 2 children drinking (and if we are supposed to consume 2 litres of water a day…that is a lot!), one that poured fast enough (not drip out), one that was well made, sturdy easy for the kids to help themselves.
My new water filtration system from Watersco Australia has met all my expectations. I purchased a bench top system that holds 4.25 litres of water and has a multi stage filtration system. My system came with a filter replacement pack (for the different stages) which should last up to 3 years. It re-mineralises and ionises ordinary tap water while filtering out chlorine, heavy metals, bacteria & specifically designed to remove up to 85% fluoride. Systems are BPA free, quick filtering, economical and come with a life time warranty. Plus the service from Watersco Australia is fantastic.
You know what I find really funny?
Water is such a simple thing, and before we realised, it was transformed and now we’ve got sparkling water, natural water, tap water… and they all taste differently!
I just saw this trailer for a documentary about bottled water called “tapped” looks awesome. It’s a sad state of affairs we are in in our society.
A great informative article about water and how it affects us. It is great to advocate BPA free drink bottles, because what is the point of having beautiful chemical free water if you put it into a regular plastic bottle that can leach BPA, and phthalates into the water
Good article…its very important to drink quality water to stay healthy because many diseases come from drinking polluted water like jaundice. I try to drink only Organic water to keep myself healthy.
