Organic Meat vs Conventional Meat – What’s the Difference?
Organic meats and conventional meats both have the same fat; however, organic raised meat has fewer impurities in fat. Fat is where the animals store all of the toxic waste products.
When you eat organic meat you will know that:
- Livestock must be fed 100% organic food (which means that chemical pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and fertilizers cannot be used to produce the animals feed);
- Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) cannot be used at any stage of the processing (this includes non-GMO feed, and also GMO injections, such as rGBH);
- Growth hormones, and drugs such as steroids and antibiotics, cannot be used to stimulate milk production
- Treating animals humanely (i.e. they have outside access at all times);
- Animals cannot be fed animal bi-products.
- Independent organic Certification bodies regularly visit the farm and ensure that the farmers are meeting nationally recognized certification standards.
