Papaya or Pawpaw
A pawpaw, also known as Asimina triloba, is a fruit-bearing tree native to the eastern and midwestern regions of the United States. The pawpaw tree produces large, oblong-shaped fruits that are about the size of a mango or small papaya. The skin of the fruit is greenish-yellow and often has a dimpled appearance. When ripe, the flesh of the pawpaw is custard-like, creamy, and has a sweet, tropical flavor with hints of banana, mango, and melon. The taste and texture of pawpaw are often compared to a combination of banana and mango. Pawpaws are highly nutritious and a good source of vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber. They are typically eaten fresh, either by scooping out the flesh or by using it in various culinary applications like smoothies, desserts, and baked goods.
